82% of Scots with a view called the EU a "political gravy train", in BMG polling I commissioned in 2017. Just 10% disagreed.

Of the Scots who expressed a view, 82 per cent agreed the EU was a "political gravy train". That was the finding of private polling I commissioned from BMG, reported by the Sunday Express in February 2017, to test whether Nicola Sturgeon's claim that Scotland was being dragged out of Europe against its will reflected what ordinary Scots actually thought. Of 1,010 Scots surveyed, 45 per cent agreed and just 10 per cent disagreed. For most voters, the NHS, law and order, education and immigration mattered far more than the EU.
